Equality Objectives

Bardfield Academy

The Equality Act 2010 (Section 149)

At Bardfield Academy, we are committed to promoting both equity and equality in all that we do. The Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) is part of everything schools do, and it asks leaders to take this responsibility seriously, fairly, and with an open mind. With this in mind, Trust and School Leaders make decisions considering how these decisions could affect different groups of people. This means considering equality right from the start—not as an afterthought—and continuing to review it over time.

Under the Equality Act 2010 (Section 149), schools are required to have regard to:

  1. Eliminating unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  2. Advancing equality of opportunity between those who share a protected
characteristic and those who do not
  3. Fostering good relations between those who share a protected characteristic
e.g. disability, race, religion, belief, gender assignment, sexual orientation,
pregnancy or maternity, and those who do not.
