About Us

Bardfield Academy

Bardfield Academy is a larger-than-average primary school, currently enrolling 421 pupils (excluding the nursery), with an additional 52 children in the Nursery, aged 2-4. Located on the eastern side of Basildon Town,

the school building was originally constructed in 1968 as separate infant and junior schools but later amalgamated to become a primary school. Over the years, extensive building work has connected the two buildings, creating a cohesive space for our learners.

The school boasts extensive grounds, including a dedicated art studio, a multi purpose studio (currently used as an autism intervention space during the school day and for wraparound care before and after school), a Wellbeing hub that accommodates children with social, emotional, mental health needs (SEMH) and a forest school area.

Bardfield Academy is a popular school and operates with two-form entry, meaning there are places for 60 children in each year group. Whilst most children join in September, we experience some movement throughout the year.

We also have a higher than national average number of pupils who qualify for free school meals (FSM) and have special educational needs (SEN). Although the majority of our pupils come from White British heritage, the school’s demographic is becoming increasingly diverse, which we welcome and celebrate. We want our children to accept others and we have a “no outsiders” attitude meaning everyone is welcome regardless of any protected characteristics.

Community is important to us so we invest in building positive relationships within school but also with our community.
